The sad part is that there is really no efficient way of knowing if there are any other stolen games. Shame on the people who would do such things.
YEah… i have looked for some. HEY! CRAZY CABLE CAR IS SOOOO FUN DOWNLOAD IT ON THE APP STORE! I will report any other apps that rip off anything… even music.. there was an app called any music downloader.. that was on app store and ripped of all singers. you get music for free! but.. its illegal :0 lee nicklen has music on there 🙂
Man i wonder if Nitrome is going to court for copyright enrigment. Sorry i didn’t have time to get a dictionary.
Please could you NOT help highlight the games that have been ripped off. Downloading them really does not help us. It makes the pirates who copy and steal content money and makes it easier for them to continue doing so. We would appreciate if you removed this post. thanks jon =0)
You’re not fooling anyone. You do not work for Nitrome, nor are you affiliated. If they didn’t want the games that were stolen to be highlighted, then they wouldn’t have posted a blog post about it. Also, the games were already removed.
Think before you try to trick someone into thinking something other than the truth. Pathetic attempt.
There is no need to be rude. And actually you are wrong… this is Jon from Nitrome =0). You may have noticed that the post has been removed from facebook because we didn’t want the name to be highlighted and for people to be able to search and download it. The picture has been changed on the blog aswell so to not show the title of the game. And you can still download it from the app store as we speak, much to our anger/dissapointment.
I have checked the IP address, and it is Jon from Nitrome. I know becuase Mat left a comment on my blog and he had the same IP.
I apologize, I just looked up the name of the game on the App Store, and it is indeed still there. What is still unclear to me though is why the game has not been removed yet.
Appologies for sounding snotty, this was not intended. It really is not a simple process to get a game removed from the app store. We have tried. There are no measures set in place by apple to monitor pirated games. Chinese companys like the one in question do not have to obide by US/UK law due to there goverment, so there really is no way of sueing them. It would prob cost 10’s of thousands of pounds to do so anyway. And we are a very small dev team which simply cannot afford to do this. I am sure apple might get around to removing it in there own good time. They have done it once before when skywire was ripped off earlier last year.
I am only human. I work extremely hard and don’t need to be told how top spend my fee time if you don’t mind.
nice fansite by the way, we appreciate your following. =0)
wow do nitrome actually know that this site exists!? cool!!!!
hi jon keep up the good work =O)
I understand that you work hard. But I was in no way telling you how to spend your free time. I was simply expressing an opinion. What you do not realize is that I was only trying to see if you still acknowledge the existence of Super Feed Me, which seems to be fading as each week passes. I am in no way disappointed that it has not been released yet, but I am still confused as to why there has not been an update in 14 months, when you guys are usually good at filling us in on these type of things.
Just to be clear, I have no intention of being rude, even I though I have already failed to avoid sounding that way. As others know, I am a huge fan of your games, and of your entire site. Once again, I would like to apologize.
I don’t think I was rude. I think you assumed I was being rude because you are sensitve to contradiction. Right now, I am LOOKING at the post on Nitrome Universe. It is not removed, it is still here. True, the blog post has changed, which causes me to believe you. One problem is that I don’t think you are handling the situation correctly. If you don’t want the game to be purchased on the App Store, then take matters into your own hands. What they did is illegal, so you should contact Apple to have it removed (if it is still there, that is, because I haven’t checked yet), rather than trying to keep this information away from people. One more thing, if you have the time to check this site for replies to your comments on this blog post, then surely you have enough time to work on Super Feed Me, or at least formulate an update for your followers.
I decided to delete the game 🙂 it seems like it is the right thing to do. i have posted on my nitrome blog (has no viewers :() to delete the game if u ever got it. my app im making will not neccicerially “rip off” nitrome. it will be very muck like nitrome. I was feeling that what I am doing could sound like plagerism, so I asked mat, as long as there is different music, art, levels… and more… it will be fine 🙂 the game will be 99.c and ill give everyone on this blog (chester, tobie, nobody…) a promo code to get the app for free 🙂 and ill also give a TON of codes to nitrome 🙂 Oh, hi Jon 🙂 please read posts here often 🙂
I was on the app store today.. and i found a game of nitrome (name held within) that may be ripping off a nitrome game. I will send the games name to nitrome. It ripped off yin yen.
Good call, Nitrome. Although as curious as I am to know who the guilty culprits are, it is respectful to just say the point rather than focus it all on one person. (I had the right words at the tip of my fingers, but lost them :()
This does remind me of people at my school who rip music off of YouTube to put the latest hits on their iPods, and sadly, my friends are also part of this too. They think I’m crazy because I always tell them “it’s illegal to do that”, but am always told I should break the rules and have a little fun.
Now they weren’t exactly copying anything, but it does get me to the point that some people just don’t care about the work these original artists have put in to making these games for people to enjoy. At least they could have asked, eh?
